Overview

Leads complex maintenance initiatives, mentors other technicians, and supports reliability and process improvement programs through advanced diagnostics and technical expertise. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject-matter expert in one or more specialties (automation, controls, mechanical systems, robotics, HVAC, utilities, or predictive maintenance).
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLC or automation logic (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Support equipment upgrades, retrofits, and process improvement projects alongside engineering.
  • Develop and update maintenance standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating major shutdown work, including contractor oversight and safety audits.
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify failure trends and reliability improvements.
  • Participate in capital project planning and layout reviews for maintainability.
  • Mentor Level I/II technicians and participate in cross-training initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards during all maintenance work.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:   7+ years of industrial maintenance experience or equivalent technical credentials.  Advanced understanding of electrical, mechanical, PLC, and automation systems.  May act as maintenance lead or support supervisor in their absence.  Key contributor to reliability engineering, asset management, and CI efforts. 

 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Possess the ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Complete standardized written documentation and correspondence. 
  • Professionally communicate in one-on-one and small group situations. 
  • Ability to perform basic electronic tasks using computer software and Microsoft Office.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

 

  • Environment is a modern production facility with heat and air conditioning 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally required to work inside with occasional outside duties
  • The employee is required to perform job functions in physical constraints such as crouch, kneel, reach overhead, lying, work on roof, climb ladder and work from a man-lift
  • Use hands and fingers to manipulate a variety of tools  
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds routinely
  • Ability to lift 31 pounds to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds with assistance occasionally
