The responsibility of a Team Captain is to assist in meeting daily targeted goals as outlined by the Team Leader. Coordinate the daily operations through assigning, monitoring and reviewing accuracy of team members’ work and providing technical guidance. Approximately 70% of time will be spent performing assembler duties. Team captains will lead and direct a team of two or more team members.
• Train, coach, and develop team members through the use of Job Instruction Sheets to ensure standard work is followed. Responsible to train team members in accordance with TWI standard work practices
• Arrange staffing in cells to meet daily work; communicate vision of daily production targets
• Ensure team members have the correct tools to complete their daily tasks and assure they are in good working condition
• Responsible for team members’ accuracy of work
• Initiate daily work improvements through Training Within Industries methodologies
• Monitor processes, materials, or surroundings reviewing information from; materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess issues or possible problems
• Promote a safe work environment
• Cultivate an environment of respect and give prompt feedback to team members’ ideas
• Cultivate a Lean culture providing team members the opportunity for continual improvements
• Maintain professional communication and provide constructive feedback to staff
• Provide notification of company policy violations to your team leader
• Support daily work improvements through Training Within Industries methodologies
• Conduct daily 5S audits and promote 5-S initiatives
• Count and record parts from inventory with accuracy using basic math skills
• Communicate shortages, scrap and order delays when applicable
• Identify and obtain accurate assembly fixtures as requested by the Work Order
• Assemble products to Work Order specifications
• Perform assembly tasks to meet daily production standards of quality and quantity
• Use computer software to locate and print assembly drawings
• Read tape measure and interpret work instructions
• Possess experience with Kanban Inventory process
• Ability to operate small hand and power tools
Supervision Received: Plan and arrange defined work; demonstrates problem-solving ability with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.
