Overview

Responsible for all aspects of the electrical product design process for Bruno products including: Design ideation, proof of concept, verification of the design to product requirements, validation of the requirements, launch of the product and support post launch.  Work closely with other engineers to create integrated electro-mechanical products.

Responsibilities

  • Create electrical, control, and testing designs for new Accessibility and Automotive aftermarket product.
  • Support relevant safety and regulatory compliance of products throughout the product life cycle
  • Create & document electrical parts and assemblies for existing products
  • Create electrical interfaces for existing product changes and new product development
  • Manage sustaining electrical components for product improvement (add value, reduce costs, etc.)
  • Develop Bruno’s electrical specifications for suppliers; support supplier interaction on products to assist in obtaining needed electrical parts for new designs
  • Verify completed documentation of those team members working with the Electrical Engineer
  • Support Product lines on electrical issues that arise in existing products and new product development
  • Support Technical Service & Sales Departments on issues pertaining to electrical components and interfaces
  • Support Quality Assurance and supplier interaction on existing products’ electrical concerns
  • Design and maintain electrical test fixtures for both current and new products.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering and 1-3 years’ experience in a product development and manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in fractional motors, controls, drives, 12- and 24-Volt battery systems and motion safety systems is preferred.

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Read, analyze, and interpret a variety of information with standard Electrical Engineering tools as well as creating technical procedures, business correspondence, and governmental regulations furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 
  • Create business-level written correspondence and verbally present information to internal and external customers. 
  • Requires job related software skills, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Office and the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment. 

 

Additional skills desired:

  • Basic PLC Programming (Koyo, Or Rockwell), Arduino MEGA & UNO Programming and Interface, Experience in 12 and 24 Volt DC System Design and Troubleshooting, NI LabVIEW Programming with NI Hardware. 
  • Knowledge of sensors such as: Single & Tri-axial accelerometers, Inclinometers, proximity sensors, RF and IR Sensors.
  • Data acquisition systems – preferably DeweSOFT.   
  • Basic electrical lab prototyping skills such as Crimping and Soldering.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Regular office environment, approximately 50%.
  • Modern production facility/engineering lab with heat and air conditioning approximately 40%
  • Occasional travel for field investigation or testing in outside environment approximately less than 10%
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or touch; and talk and hear.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand and walk, occasionally squatting or laying on the ground.
  • The employee is periodically required to lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 occasionally, with assistance.
