Overview

Expedite machining and fabrication work through the R&D area in support of the development of new products, enhancement of existing products, and internal improvement initiatives. This position will also support the development of welding, assembly, and test fixtures, as well as, troubleshooting production and field issues. Consistent and timely support of order fulfillment, research and development, and improvement efforts is key to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machines (i.e. mills, lathes, etc.), operate light duty metal finishing tools, and hand held power tools.
  • Operate manual measurement equipment such as dial & digital height gages, locators, calipers, micrometers, angle finders and levels.
  • Program and run CNC machines (i.e. mills, lathes, etc.)
  • Work with engineers to create and maintain precision welding (robotic and manual), assembly, and test fixtures.
  • Fabricate, weld, machine, finish and assemble as needed prototypes, reworked parts, fixtures, and tools for production sustainability, R&D, new product development, and process improvement
  • Assist in troubleshooting existing design, process, and field issues
  • Provide feedback on manufacturability, ease of assembly, and critical processes to engineers, product Development, and other staff.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop new products and processes and optimize current products and their production
  • Support production in anyway needed including: modifying non-conforming parts, running special order and limited volume production parts thru the Lab with limited or no fixturing, and working in production if necessary
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment through the use of 5S methodology

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma (GED) and a minimum 4 years of manual and CNC machining/fabrication experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks or an equivalent 3D modeling program is a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of electronics, electrical assembly, welding, pneumatic circuits, and hydraulics is preferred. 
  • Ability to read prints and schematics is required. 
  • Ability to operate and fork truck and maintain is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of Bruno manufacturing and fabrication methodologies is preferred.

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Reads and interprets documents such as sketches, prints, CAD models, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  • Perform written documentation and correspondence. 
  • Professionally communicate one-on-one and in groups. 
  • Ability to perform basic tasks using computer software such as CAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Set up and operate skilled machining equipment such as MIG welding, CNC and manual mills and lathes, operate light duty metal processing equipment such as band saw, grinder, drill, and taps as well as all hand manual and power tools. 
  • Proficiency programming CNC mills and lathes.
  • Operate hand and manual measurement equipment.
  • Read standard lab test equipment such as temperature, voltage, amperage and ohm meters, tachometers and cycle counters. 
  • Ability to multitask. 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Modern production facility/engineering lab with heat and air conditioning
  • Occasional travel approximately less than 5%
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or touch; and talk and hear  
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, move around, crouch, knee and reach
  • The employee is required to periodically lift up to 50 pounds
  • The employee is required to occasionally lift over 70 pounds with assistance
