  • Overview

    The Controls Engineer is responsible for all engineering aspects of the design and development of the Curve Rail Elevator Bender process: Design ideation, proof of concept, verification of the design to product requirements, validation of the product requirements to the customers’ requirements and production launch. This position is the technical leader responsible in the design, development and continual improvement of the control system for the manufacture of our proprietary process for global custom curve stairlifts.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop, maintain and improve the CRE rail bending system using a CAD to CAM process.
    • Create, refine and document the process to optimize and commercialize the bending process.
    • Work with outside control suppliers on all facets of the control development for Bruno products.
    • Develop Bruno’s specifications for suppliers; support supplier interaction on products to assist in the CAD/CAM process along with bender machine and rail production processes.
    • Verify completed documentation of those team members working with the Controls Engineer.
    • Support production lines on issues that arise for new product development projects.
    • Provide support to Technical Service, Sales Department, and Quality Assurance Departments on issues pertaining to rail production.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
    • Experience with control of bending and metal working machinery is desired.
    • Ability to program machinery in a variety of programming languages.
    • Ability to convert CadCam to G code for PLC level machine operation.
    • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
    • Working knowledge on configuring and programming industrial machine controls, including AC/DC drives and servo drives; Mitsubishi drive and controls familiarity is a plus.
    • Experience with various PLCs and HMIs.
    • Ability to create and read machine control electrical schematics.
    • Familiarity with Solidworks 3D database conversions are a plus.
    • Familiarity with Scanning and inspection processes are a plus.

     

    Skills and Abilities:
    • Provide subject matter leadership for the Global Curve stairlift development.
    • Read, analyze, and interpret a variety of information, such as technical procedures, business correspondence, and governmental regulations furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
    • Create business-level written correspondence and verbally present information to internal and external customers.
    • Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in English along with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    • Must possess a practical understanding of the effects of material, environment, and operator on the control of multi axis CNC machinery.
    • Knowledge of statistical methods, data base operation and complex mathematical problem solving.
    • Ability to be detail oriented in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Solidworks or other 3D CAD programs.
