Overview

Examine and analyze customers’ needs, prepare specifications, design modifications, and other pertinent information related to the proposed installation.    

Responsibilities

  • Design engineering layouts of staircases and steel-fabricated stairlifts
  • Custom-engineer design modifications when needed
  • Create work orders and provide technical support to the Fabrication Department
  • Create illustration and text for comprehensive installation instructions
  • Create Bills of Material
  • Provide accurate and up to date application information in software for company-wide reference (i.e. which company products align with 3rd party vehicles and mobility devices)
  • Provide verbal technical support of product information to internal departments
  • Converse with dealer network to provide application assistance, as well as troubleshoot installations and product questions
  • Participate in department meetings to keep team apprised of effort; provide error proofing ideas; offer innovative ideas and techniques
  • Work with 3D measuring software to transform a point cloud to a usable model

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • Two year Technical Degree required. 
  • Two or more years design experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD, or Solidworks highly desired. 
  • Lean Product Development experience is a plus.

 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Read, analyze, and interpret a variety of information, such as technical procedures, business correspondence, and governmental regulations furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 
  • Create business-level written correspondence and verbally present information to internal and external customers. 
  • Requires job related software skills, MS Office and the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment.  

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Regular office environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or touch; and talk and hear.  
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, crouch, knee and reach.
  • The employee is required to lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally.
  • The employee is required to use hand tools.
